Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

After getting beaten up by Jessica Davenport and OSU last month, Janel McCarville and Minnesota came back and won Round Two. The Gophers earned their best victory of the season by upsetting the Buckeyes in OT.

"I've been saying all year we would be crazy if we did not use last year's experience to our advantage right now," coach Pam Borton said. "The way we're feeling now, we have unfinished business."

McCarville did what you need to do against a bigger post: take the game away from the basket. "The last time I let her get the ball where she wanted," said McCarville, who had 21, 15, and 7. "This time I tried to front her more and deny the ball as much as I could. I got a lot of help from my teammates. We just swarmed her."

"She pushed me out of my spot," Davenport said. "I didn't get low enough in the post and I wasn't able to do what I like to do."

Over the last two games, McCarville and Jamie Broback have combined for 95 points and 35 rebounds.
