From the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame:

4Kay Run/Walk Added to 2009 Induction Events in Memory of Kay Yow

February 16, 2009 - Join the fight against breast cancer by participating in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame's 4Kay Road Race hosted by the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in conjunction with its 2009 Induction Weekend. The race will be held on June 13 at 8:00 a.m. The WBHOF 4Kay™ will be held in memory of the late North Carolina State University Women's Basketball Coach and Women's Basketball Hall of Famer, Kay Yow, who passed away on January 24 after a long battle with breast cancer. Proceeds will benefit cancer research through the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund™.

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association hosted the first 4Kay at the 2008 Women's Final Four tournament in Tampa Bay, FL. Approximately 800 participants took part in the race. The second 4Kay race will be held in St. Louis on April 4 at the 2009 Women's Final Four tournament. The WBHOF will be the first organization other than the WBCA to host a 4Kay and it will also be the first 4Kay not associated with the Women's Final Four tournament.

"I am really excited that this event is coming to Knoxville," said Pat Summitt, Tennessee Women's Basketball Coach, WBHOF Inductee (1999) and Board Member. "It's a great way to continue the fight against breast cancer, which is what Kay Yow would want us all to do. Kay was a great coach and an even better person. She fought breast cancer courageously, and in her memory, it is up to us to carry the torch. I would encourage everyone to participate in this great event to benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame."
