Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Kim has a great number of basketball blogs linked on her "Daily News" page.

Too often I forget to check them out because... well, too often they're not updated and also I forget to check them out (perhaps because I don't get an email reminder *cough* learn a lesson WNBA *cough*)

Anyhoo - because Coach Binford is ex-W and I've read her blog a couple of times as she recalled her Cleveland Rockers days... *sigh* Those Lib/Rocker playoff series were classics, no? *sigh* I clicked.

Reminded me Coach B's a hoot! You get a flavor of her style just from her (updated) bio:

Grew up in Carbondale, CO. Went to Boise State where we became nationally ranked, went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history, and sold out the pavilion with over 11,000 fans. I started my first wave with the crowd.

Played 2 years in Australia, went Kangaroo hunting, wore the unitard, and ate vegimite.

Played 5 years in the WNBA. I was the shortest player in the league until Debbie Black joined the following year at 5'2. I gave her her 7th broken nose. No worries, we are friends.

I was part of the Eastern Conference Championship Team, the Cleveland Rockers.

Coached two years at BSU where I met my future husband, the older brother of a player we signed. (No,that's not the reason why she signed) Coached 2 years at USU Going into my fifth season as the Head Coach at MSU.

Her recap of MSU's Nov. 1 game:

I am glad it's November and not March. My husband is a Clint Eastwood fan so I will give you the "good, the bad, the ugly."

The Good:
* Our team never got rattled and has depth at EVERY position.
* We didn't have anyone foul out although Jamie and Erica (our two SENIORS) were close.
* It was an afternoon game so it was a perfect time to have a Diet Pepsi.

The Bad:
* Ramble On, by Led Zepplin was not played during our pregamewarmup.
* We had 17 turnovers, most of them unforced.
* The Fieldhouse had the airconditioning on right over my head. It was freezing.

The Ugly:
* We gave up 17 offensive rebounds!
* We only had 8 steals and a defense that did not dictate or disrupt our opponent.
* We lost every player on the floor with lack of communication. Our fans must think we are mute.

My players know that I don't sugar coat anything for good reason. I will say it right here we will only be as good as our defense so we have some work to do between Novemember and March.

I LOVE THIS GAME!
