Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

In the WAC, La Tech advanced over Hawaii. They will play Fresno State, coached by former Techster assistant Stacy Johnson-Klein . Both Johnson-Klein and current Tech coach Kurt Bidke spent a couple years under former Coach Barmore -- somewhere on a golf course, Coach Barmore is smiling.

The Big 12 had the day off, as Texas and Tech prepare for the finals today (on FoxSports most places at 7 eastern). This rivalry between these two champion contenders has lots of history behind it. Mechelle Voepel says other teams who play K State should watch videos to see how the Red Raiders managed to upset the Wildcats twice in a week. K State is hoping that they don't have to deal with more losses anytime soon.

In the America East, BU advanced to its first conference final, where it will meet Maine. In the Big West, Pacific beat Long Beach State. In the Mountain West, New Mexico beat CSU; New Mexico will meet BYU in the finals, CSU will have to wait and see if they make it in off the bubble.

In D2 (I'm gonna start saying D2 instead of DII, because with this font, "DII" looks like dill or something), Seattle Pacific beat friend and rival Chico State before a record crowd. California had no trouble with Millersville. Cal State Stanislaus tied the game with a desperation 3 at the buzzer, but heavily favored Bakersfield won in overtime anyway.

On the pro side, nice profile here of Springfield Spirit coach Julia Mastrio.
