Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

To be honest, we didn't really think anyone was reading this other than Sara's dad and our friend Syd in Providence. But we put one of those counters on yesterday, and we've had a few hundred hits. Thanks for coming. And thanks to the women's basketball server for putting up a link to this page.

So. No upsets in the Big 12. KU had no answer for Stacy Stephens, and got blown out by Texas. But the Jayhawks are optimistic about next year. OU had a good comeback, but Colorado hit its freethrows down the stretch to hold on. Bjorkland had 32. Will Oklahoma make the tournament? Probably. They're #32 right now in the RPI rankings.

K-State rolled over Baylor. Laurie Koehn is getting more comforable following her return from an ankle injury; she had 22 for the Wildcats. OSU played a good first half against Texas Tech, but the wheels came off in the second. Jia Perkins went crazy, scoring 13 of her 21 in the 2nd half, and Tech ended up winning by 20.

Texas is hoping that if it wins the Big 12 tourney, it will get a #1 seed. Duke, UConn, Texas, Tennessee, and LSU -- one of these will be left out. If Texas loses in the next couple days, the issue will be settled. Coach Conradt is not happy about having to travel for the first round of the tournament. Jenni Carlson argues that Coach Coale should get Big 12 coach of the year over Coach Conradt. Texas A&M Coach Gillom is probably out of the running -- she was fired yesterday.
