Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Whalen is back at practice. She is planning to play in the tournament, but it's still not certain.

Before Lindsay went down, the Gophers were in the hunt for a 3-4 seed. They're now looking at something much lower, probably in the 6-10 range.

This could create an unfair result for someone. With Whalen back, the Gophers will be a dangerous low seed anyway. Plus, they have the first two rounds at home.

Some team out there that worked hard all year to get a high seed will get "rewarded" by playing Lindsay and the Gophers in Williams in the first or second round.

The committee, however, will obviously take Whalen's return into account.

"We've seen Minnesota play with and without Whalen,'' said Cheryl Marra, selection committee chair. "As a committee, we consider how a team is affected by injuries. Injuries will play a fairly large role in the seeding process.''
