"From the time I was seven, I played every sport I could play." Donna Orender grew up in Long Island playing everything -- in high school, she lettered in basketball, field hockey, volleyball, softball, and tennis.

She says that playing sports taught her the importance of the three Ds -- determination, desire, and discipline -- which she now applies in her sports business career. (Sounds a little like a Women's Sports Foundation commercial, doesn't she?)

One of the surprising things about this news is how Orender was never even mentioned as a possible candidate for the job in any news report. That's either a sign that the WNBA is unusually good at keeping secrets, or that the various reporters didn't do a very good job.
