Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

There's a certain pain, a sadness, that has come with being a Minnesota basketball fan in recent years. We've had Kevin Garnett -- probably the best basketball player on the planet -- on our team, but for most of the past decade, he's been playing alone, surrounded by incompetence. He deserves better, and as a fan, you almost start to wish that he would play somewhere else, so that he could be on a good team, the sort of team he deserves.

Tonight I got the same feeling about the Gophers and McCarville.

Michigan State's four guards (Bowen, Haynes, Haynie, and Lucas-Perry) shredded us on our home floor. Their guards beat ours 60-10. We shot 0-for-17 from outside the arc. Our starters at the 1-2-3 spots combined for 3 points on 0-for-9 shooting, 5 assists, and 8 turnovers in 78 minutes.

The Spartans look good. They also look like a team that was specifically engineered to embarrass us, and tonight they performed that task brilliantly.
