Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Rough night for Sue Bird on national TV last night.

First, Betty Lennox yelled at her, apparently because Sue drove for a wide-open layup rather than passing to Betty. Then, Lauren Jackson elbowed her in the face, breaking her nose (again). And on top of it all, the Storm got soundly beaten by the Sun.

Lennox, despite her constant talking, didn't have a great game, as she was held in check by Katie Douglas, who was solid on both ends.

Jeff Jacobs: "You can't stop Betty Lennox's mouth. You can only hope to contain it."

After the game, Betty said her tiff with Sue "wasn't nothing." (So, then, it was something?)

Another big night for Dydek. "I haven't seen Margo play like that in, like, ever," said LJ. "Obviously (coach) Mike Thibault is doing something good. We've just gotta regroup now, because we've got three more very important games."

(And in a media note, the Seattle Times sent Jayda Evans to a road game.)

Elsewhere...

Sacto stayed hot. "I wish we were 6-0," said Ticha Penicheiro. "But 5-1 feels great."

The Stars won a battle of two struggling teams, as Ferdinand and Thomas scored 20 adn 23. "I was feeling it in the first half," Thomas said. "I try and let the game come to me, and my teammates kept giving me the ball."

Minnesota won on the road at Houston. "We went absolutely brain-dead tonight," said Van.
