First- and second-round venues for 2007: Michigan State; Hartford Civic Center, i.e. UConn; UT-Austin; Stanford; Minnesota; USC (Los Angeles); N.C. State; and, perhaps surprisingly, Pitt.
Among other quirks, the selections make it possible for one team to get all the way to the Final Four without ever leaving North Carolina.
