Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Not a very good night for parity. Ranked teams excluding Texas won by an average of 35 points.

I would like to propose a rule: no reporter may use the phrase "new era of parity," or any synonym, until Tennessee and UConn have lost two games each.

The Huskies gave Jen Rizzotti's squad a friendly neighborhood beat-down. Ah, but it was all love. “Her team's a reflection of her,” Auriemma said of Rizzotti. “I think that's the greatest compliment. I really admire them.”

The Vols dispatched Texas with depressing ease. After opening on a 17-0 run, Tennessee batted the 'Horns around for awhile, then ran away to a 41-point victory.

"They got us on the mat and we never got up," coach Conradt said. "I felt like we were going to have to ask permission to get a rebound." (Silver lining: Arriaran and Cortijo looked pretty good. Cortijo's hair rules.)

Candace Parker showed well in her first nationally-televised games. She had some nifty moves and some go-go-Gadget-arms rebounds. There was one play off a steal where she might have dunked if not for botched spacing followed by a botched pass.
