Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Monday, January 09, 2006

Despite the promising interior play of then-frosh Marcedes Walker, Pitt won just two home games all last year, and finished the season 13-15.

They might be one of the nation's most improved teams. Yesterday Pitt got past South Florida on Mallorie Winn's tie-breaking final jump shot. ("We practice that play a lot," Winn said.)

Walker had 19 and 10, leading her Panthers to a ferocious rebounding advantage; frosh Xenia Stewart couldn't stop USF star Jessica Dickson from scoring, but did make her turn the ball over seven times.

Pitt climb to 10-3, with losses to DePaul, Penn State, and Mizzou.
