Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Happy draft day: the name-calling starts at 1pm Eastern time on ESPN2.

Lynx coach McConnell-Serio says people are talking: "It's amazing. You run into people you know, and everybody's speculating on who we're taking. You'll talk to two people and they are so pro-Cappie, and I'm in agreement. Then you talk to people who are pro-Seimone Augustus. I mean, you hear the good of both of them."

Seimone at number one, fans know, means a point guard at number seven; Cappie up first would require Minnesota to take a shooter with the seventh pick.

The Mercury won't trade the second pick. If the Lynx take Seimone, Merc GM Seth Sulka wants Cappie; if the Lynx take Cappie, the Merc get Seimone.

The Sting pick third and tenth: they need almost everything. Trudi Lacey, still GM: "I don't feel any pressure."

Dan Hughes says the Silver Stars want Young, unless they want Currie. They'll look for a forward with their second pick: Kim Smith and Mistie Williams are, supposedly, options.
