Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Washington's starting posts took out Chicago in a surprisingly close home win. Sanford tallied a career-high 25. The Sky got double figures for all its starters but couldn't quite get past a second-quarter collapse.

Sanford-- less than stellar in seasons past-- almost got cut in May; she's seeing big minutes now due to DeLisha Milton's big injury. Coach Adubato: "Who would have thought I'd be saying this now, but where would we be without her?"

Sanford turned down surgery on a broken pinkie during the offseason in order to max her chance to stay with the team. "I've used the way management viewed me to motivate me," she said. "But what's most important was that we won the game."
