Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Sunday, March 04, 2007

LSU picked up its biggest win of the year by beating Tennessee in the SEC semis.

Cold early, LSU took the lead by the half, then pulled away late; Fowles finished with 19 and 20 (yes, 20 rebounds), and Tennessee's late attention to her left Tiger guards open for jumpers and driving layups.

Meanwhile, LSU shut Parker down. The Vols tried a four-guard lineup late in the game, isolating CP against SF. Result: not much. Coach Summitt: "We got whipped right down the middle."

LSU's Coach Pokey: "Yeah!"

In the other SEC semi, Vandy made Georgia look stupid. The Dawgs collapsed early and never recovered; Garrison calls it "total system failure."

The first and second seeds are now gone from the SEC tourney: the third and fourth contend for the title at 7:30 Eastern time today.
