Marist!

(Ok... let's back up one second. Who the hell is Marist? It's a smallish liberal arts college in Poughkeepsie. It is part of the MAAC. Mascot: Red Fox.)

Last night, the Foxes shocked the world by beating Middle Tennessee, which was supposed to be this year's mid-major darling.

Marist tore up the Blue Raiders' press. Alisa Kresge stymied Chrissy Givens. Nikki Flores shot the lights out. The backcourt looked quicker and smarter than any in the country outside the ACC.

"This is amazing," Kresge said. "This is huge for mid-major teams, especially in the MAAC. I don't think anybody expected a mid-major from the MAAC to be in the sweet 16. It's incredible."

"We're still Cinderella, and the shoe was there," said coach Brian Giorgis.

Despite the loss, MTSU's year was wonderful. "We don't like it, but we've got the foundation built," coach Insell said. "(Marist) did a great job tonight and I think you have to pat them on the back for that. We're not through, though. We've just got the car out of the garage. We haven't got on the track to race."

But for now... Marist!
