Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

UConn buried the Boilers in West Lafayette. Purdue didn't score a field goal for the first nine minutes; the final score was 100-50, the biggest defeat in the history of Purdue.

While the number one team in the nation rolled, the number two team kept on sinking, losing to USC in L.A. Once again, Appel and Wiggins had fine stat lines, but Wiggins couldn't connect on a last-second touch, and the Women of Troy won a squeaker.

In another West Coast surprise, UCLA went to overtime with Berkeley, though the Golden Bears prevailed. Four Cal starters played for almost the entire game: Natasha Vital, not normally a scoring leader, led them with 18.

And in another upset, Xavier ended Georgia's unbeaten season; onetime Purdue recruit Amber Harris keyed the home win with 19. The Musketeers won even though the Dawgs sank more free throws, made more treys, and turned the ball over fewer times; XU did, however, get way more boards.
