Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

So, my Monroe College "meet and greet" tour continues. On a bus going to a school up in the Bronx, I encounter four MC students....

Which brings me to another Junior College story (even though we know MC ain't a JC anymore).

When you first step into Cheryl Holden's office, it's impossible not to notice the gold basketball trophy that dominates the room. It's the reward for Holden's program's latest feat -- winning the 2007-08 NWAACC women's championships -- which the Columbia Basin College Hawks accomplished in March.

But as proud as Holden was the night her team beat East Region-rival Spokane 49-37 to win the school's second NWAACC title in four years, she's even more fulfilled today. That's because six of her sophomores have signed to play at four-year schools next season.
