Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

1. San Antonio got past the Mystics at the Phone Booth, in a close game decided by Becky Hammon's big night: the South Dakota native scored 28, including a couple of killer late-game treys.

The Basket Cases find a silver lining to Washington's latest defeat: Crystal Langhorne looked good (she sure did), and the 'Stics teamwork better than it has in a while.

2. In L.A., the Sparks defeated the Mercury despite yet another fourth-quarter collapse from Candace, Lisa and company: Phoenix had played so badly up to that point (Diana scored nothin' for three quarters) that their late surge couldn't even things out.

Also in L.A., sports columnist Helene Elliott looks at Lisa Leslie: from Olympic star to, well, Olympic star, bringing other stars along behind.
