Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

One of the realities of being a high school coach is that you coach who you have. You're also not supposed to "recruit" players -- which is why students who transfer can have their "reasons" looked at carefully.

So, comes the question: if you can't recruit, and you have to coach who you have, what does it mean to be a success and who makes that judgement? (Sort of the debate that happens in public school teacher evaluation. And, by the way, a reminder that high school coaches ARE, for the most part, educators.)

Here's an example of parents taking matters in their own hands when they wanted to remove a coach.
Nine players on St. Francis Prep's girls' varsity basketball team have been suspended, just days after their parents refused to allow them to board a bus to play a league game, according to the school's athletic director, Sal Fischetti.
