Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

From the Olympic scene:
Jim Scherr has stepped down as the chief executive officer of the U.S. Olympic Committee, a surprising resignation that comes with the federation facing financial difficulties and in the midst of trying to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago.
First, I hope is "stuff" and not health stuff or illegal stuff.

Second, what on earth is anyone doing bidding on the Olympics? Have they not been following the fiasco that is the London Olympics fiscal situation? Have they not read about the post-Beijing issues? Have they not noticed that the USOC is looking to trim $7 million from their budget?

If this isn't a time to "take a pause in the Olympic site merry-go-round" I don't know when is.

Hey, let's go back to Athens and let them finish up the beautiful -- and unused -- arenas they have. Maybe this time people would show up!
