Hey, ESPN - forget the stories on "secondary violations" and "guarantees." You want to do some serious journalism, why not send Bobby Knight to Hawai'i?

The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team returned home yesterday with the status of its head coach, Jim Bolla, still up in the air pending an investigation into allegations of a physical confrontation with a player, said people on campus who asked not to be identified because of the ongoing investigation.

Bolla, in his fifth season at UH, remains on paid leave during the investigation.
Feb 24:
A University of Hawai'i women's basketball player alleges that head coach Jim Bolla kicked her during a practice this season and confirmed that it was she who reported the incident to the UH athletic department, spurring the second formal investigation into allegations of abuse by Bolla in less than a year.

The UH athletic department last year conducted an investigation into allegations of verbal abuse and other mistreatment raised by current and former players. One of the players alleged that Bolla repeatedly mocked her for being a lesbian — she said she is heterosexual — and once told her that she was "too fat" to ever play for him.
March 19:
A school report is said to "sustain allegations" University of Hawai'i women's basketball coach Jim Bolla kicked a player earlier this season, according to a person familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly.
