Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Now it's in the record books: UConn have one more undefeated regular season, one of five in Husky history, and the first NCAA undefeated season by any women's hoops team in which all the margins of victory had double digits.

As you'd expect at Rutgers, UConn had to fight for it:the visitors led 21-5 early on, with Montgomery knocking down shot after shot, but RU cut the lead to single digits again and again, including the final minutes of play. Renee finished with 23; both Maya Moore and Epiphanny Prince had pretty bad nights from the floor.

"I've been 30-0 before and not won a national championship," said Geno, never one to count unhatched chickens. "What made me the happiest...was that it was a team win."

ESPN's announcers gave a rare shoutout to the website on camera, alerting us to Voepel's conference-tourney predictions. Mechelle also blogged yesterday about the utter lack of suspense around this Husky team. (I do see some suspense in the Big East tournament, at least if they encounter Rutgers: as everyone says, it's hard to beat a team three times.)
