Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

In another mildly surprising conference tournament result, San Diego State defeated historical power Utah to win the Aztecs' first-ever MWC title.

"Our bodies are beat," said SDSU's Paris Johnson. Her teammates Davis and Morris combined to score 43.

They needed overtime to do it, and they made the Utes run out of gas: Utah led with five-plus minute in regulation, but scored no field goals (and only a pair of free throws) for the rest of the game.

"They're a great defensive team," said UU's Kalee Whipple. Her Utes are denied an at-large bid in Creme's latest projections: given their schedule, that's probably right.
