Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Just because I disagree with much of what Danny of SI says doesn't mean he's not entitled to his opinion.

It's just the lack of facts that makes me grumpy. Typical:
Upsets are the best part of the men's tournament. They rarely happen in the women's draw.
How would you know? You don't watch the games!

And sorry, Dannyboy, there's nothing "politically correct" about acknowledging "most people don't care about the women's tourney." The phrase "politically correct" (when it's not being used as a weapon or an insult of some sort) means to be aware that there are people in the world who are different that you, and that, while you don't have to bow down to them, it's nice to acknowledge they have a right to exist.

So, please, Danny, DON'T watch the women's tournament. Just as, I'm sure, you didn't watch the Patriots run towards perfection, or the Chicago Bulls during the Jordan era or, if given the chance, any of the Wooden era games. Or Indiana. Or UNLV... or.... because they were "coronations." (tell that to the Giants, 'kay?)

I'm just not sure why you feel the need to insult the sport. Perhaps, as pilight noted,

"To the media, it's always questionable when women do something well."
