Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

Tuesday, March 02, 2010

There was one surprise in the Big East last night: Syracuse defeated WVU. The Orangepeople came from way behind late in the game, and Erica Morrow scored 23.

Good for Morrow, and good for the 'Cuse. Not so good for the 'Cuse: senior star Nicole Michael hurt her foot late and didn't return to the floor.

The Mountaineers will have to enter the Big East tournament after their first "bad" loss this season: their only other defeats involved Connecticut, Ohio State and Notre Dame. Also bad for the Mountaineers (and maybe a way to explain the loss away): coach Carey didn't make the trip from Morgantown-- he's apparently ill.

Syracuse also upset the Mountaineers in the Carrier Dome two years ago, but-- rather alarmingly-- we don't see our own coverage for that game: our month-by-month archives now reveal only a certain number of posts for that month (in this case, from Feb. 29 to Feb. 15, and similarly for other months and years).

Let us know if you look in the hoops blog archive and find similarly dodgy results: something's apparently gone wrong with Blogger, affecting all blogs with large numbers of posts. I really hope it's temporary, though we do back up the site from time to time.
