UConn's streak isn't the longest ever in NCAA women's basketball. The record of 81 belongs to the 1998-2001 Washington University Bears.

"Sometimes I want to say, 'Excuse me. Over here, in the back ...' " said Bears coach Nancy Fahey, who won her fifth national title last month in her 24th year at Washington U. "It's not a cut against anyone else, because we know better than anyone how hard it is, but we're a very shining part of the NCAA."
