Inane commentary on a game that deserves far better

More "Eve of the WBHOF Induction Ceremonies," this time from John Altavilla at the Hartford Courant:
It was a Friday night, after 10, as Steve Rushin remembers it. The doorbell rang at the Granby home he shares with wife Rebecca Lobo and their three children.

Seems a celebrity scavenger hunt, organized by a local church, was rolling through town.

"We need to have our picture taken with somebody famous," Rushin remembered someone saying. "Is she home?"

She wasn't home. She was in Sacramento, doing what she has been doing the last few years, working as part of the team telecasting a WNBA game for ESPN.

"A little voice in the back of the group eventually said, 'Well, take his picture, he's famous — his picture is in Sports Illustrated [Rushin is a former SI columnist],' " Rushin said.

"The chaperone immediately said, 'He's not famous. Why take a picture if it's not going to count?' "
